Its been a while since I have added anything to the Blog so i wanted to give a quick update of events. Last years garden did not do very well due to the extremely wet year we had. This spring has also started off extremely wet so we have postponed moving plants from the greenhouse to the garden. it looks like after a possibility for a couple more inches of rain tonight we will have a few days of sunshine. We plan to start planting as soon as the garden spot is dry enough.
During the winter we piled all of the uneaten hay from the cattle in the barn lot. This made for a great compost pile that was nearly 20 feet wide about 30 feet long and nearly 12 feet tall. I have added it all to our garden and managed to chisel it in a couple times this evening. We plan on doing this every year so I expect the organic material will continually get better. Here is a picture of our seven year old son leveling the garden after I had run a chisel through it. We still have a couple low spots to take care of but it is looking good.
